So is this new creative devotional time only for those who are "artsy" or are uber talented and can "paint and draw"? The answer is a resounding NO!! Many folks are enjoying this process without the benefit of any artistic bent at all. In fact there is no right or wrong way to do Bible Journaling!
So how could you go wrong?! There are a few things that those of us who have been practicing this somewhat new phenomenon have learned work better than others and we are still learning...Things that we can pass on to others so that someone who is venturing into this type of bible study for the first time can benefit from our experiences. For instance we have discovered certain types of pens that don't bleed through the page to the other side, stickers that work better in certain areas or the wonders of washi tape (it's the new duct tape of creative arts) and so much more!! There are journaling Bibles that contain pre-printed artwork to color in or just space alloted to create your own designs; there are stickers and embellishments designed just for this creative process, as well as, great tutorials online and no end of ideas on Pinterest!
We have a selection of stickers, pens, pencils, stamps and ink in store now; along with several different journaling Bibles...of course there are ways to use other Bibles and we even have a separate Illustrating Journal for those who love the idea of creative Bible Journaling but are not sure they are comfortable with drawing in their Bibles. Come into the store and check out these options and there are more items arriving all the time!
We had our first Bible Journaling Workshop at Cornerstone on Tuesday, June 21st (and we hope to have more in the near future) and there were so many ideas traded and enjoyed together as a group...but most importantly we came together in the appreciation and time spent in the word of God...creatively so!!
